1. Acceptance

By downloading or using Notepad--, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Notepad--. If you use the app on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization.

3. Local-first product

Notepad-- stores notes locally in SQLite on your Mac. We do not operate servers to sync or host your content. You are responsible for your device security and backups.

4. Optional AI requests

• AI features are optional and require you to provide your own API key and endpoint (OpenAI-compatible).
• If you leave the API key empty, AI calls are not made and the app uses local mock responses.
• You are responsible for any costs, terms, and data handling of the AI provider you choose (e.g., OpenAI/DashScope).

5. Acceptable use

• Do not use the app to store or transmit unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
• Do not attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or distribute the app without permission.

6. Data ownership

You own your notes and content. We do not claim ownership or access to your data.

7. No warranty

Notepad-- is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Use at your own risk. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Notepad-- and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

9. Updates

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Terms. A change log will be noted here.
